ABSTRACT ARTIST // ST. LOUIS, MO, USA
Emily Kay Rice is a local abstract artist from St. Louis, Missouri. Emily’s collections of work are multifaceted, ranging from a variety of mediums, with a primary focus of acrylics. Since 2015, Emily has had the privilege of presenting solo exhibitions at The St. Louis Renaissance Airport Hotel, Missouri Baptist University, and has participated in a multitude of group exhibitions across the St. Louis area.
Exploring the boundless capabilities of mixed media fluid art, Emily is also working therapeutically while furthering the exploration of her own developing style. As she takes the uncovered emotions from memory repression surrounding trauma, she gives them a visual abstract representation, and pulls inspiration from her journey of self discovery and healing. She is unswerving in her desire to express some of the actual capabilities of spray paint as a medium in its own right, exploring the pull and push between the artist’s level of control and the paint’s own intrinsic qualities.
Emily has studied a multitude of trades among the fine arts to develop her own artistic style that carries throughout her work. Accompanied by a Bachelors of Arts degree in Theatre from Missouri Baptist University, Emily served as a Visual and Performing Arts Educator at Visitation Academy of St. Louis years 2018 and 2019. She continues to actively work in the realms of ink, theatrical set design and construction, graphic design, street art, and children’s book illustration. You can see some of her published illustrative works in children’s book series “Family By Love : A Story of Open Adoption” by Kaycee Parker.
